I began 2025 trapped in a situation six years in the making -- the most dangerous predicament of my life.
Many people do not survive what I survived this year.
I still don't know if it was stubbornness, strength, or the Will of God that kept me anchored to the core of who I am. But through every moment of suffering, one truth never left me:
I love my daughters.
I showed up for them even while I was being torn apart, even while I had almost nothing left to give.
My breaking point came as a revelation.
A moment of brutal clarity:
I might have to face this life entirely on my own.
It was so terrifying that my instinct was to flee the room -- to escape the truth.
But there was nowhere to run. I could not escape myself.
And then it dawned on me:
Everything I need, I must give to myself.
I am the one I have been waiting for.
From that moment forward, everything changed.
I escaped my situation. I went to the police to pursue justice.
I got a job at the casino. I nurtured myself through months of complex emotions and slow, deliberate healing. My strength returned piece by piece, day by day.
When summer arrived, I began searching for ways to serve again. I felt solid enough to act with an open heart. I didn't yet know my path -- but I knew that everything I had endured could not be for nothing.
Then came September.
The came the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce event.
Then came the moment that launched my future.
So much of my past had been defined by survival that I knew one thing for certain:
I would not waste any more precious time.
I am not built for smallness.
I know who I am.
I am a leader -- and I have the capacity to help my community in meaningful, tangible ways.
On September 16th, I mapped out my plan to run for Niagara Falls City Council in 2026. And I started posting on LinkedIn.
Since then:
-- my posts have been viewed 33,400+ times by 2100+ members
-- my content has been shared, saved and endorsed by organizations and individuals I deeply respect
-- people across Niagara and beyond are watching, engaging, and resonating with the work I am putting into the world.
One month ago, I didn't even know how to build a website -- but I knew I needed one.
So I taught myself.
I launched it on November 11th.
Today, that site is performing in the top 10-15% of political websites worldwide.
And for the first time in my life,
I feel both deep internal peace and genuine excitement.
2026 is coming.
And I am here for it.
